    POSITION: GROUP DEPUTY MANAGING DIRECTOR

    Menang, a public listed company listed on the Main Board (Property) of the Bursa Malaysia. Dr Shun was appointed as Group Executive Director when joined and was subsequently promoted to Group Deputy Managing Director of Menang in 2005.

    Responsibilities:

    · Reporting directly to the Board of Directors.
    · Supervises the total operations and personnel policies of the Group.
    · Organising external and internal financing for the Group.
    · Sits on the Audit Committee representing Management to the Independent Non-Executive Directors with respect to Corporate Governance and Policy matters.
    · Also a member of the Remuneration Committee to ensure attractive and competitive remuneration policies are adopted to retain and attract management calibre for the Menang Group.
    · Implementation of the Group’s regional diversification into Australia wherein he established a wholly owned subsidiary in Perth, Western Australia since June 1997.

    Accomplishment:
    Crisis Management and Turn around Specialist.
    Chief Strategist as the company successfully re-engineered from a Section 176 and regularised within 2 years (1999-2001)

    A Summary of Dr Christopher Shun other achievements


    1 Dr. Shun has been appointed in October 2007 unto the Advisory Panel of the highly prestigious Property think-tank; the National Property Research Council (NAPREC), which is under the Malaysian Ministry of Finance as a high level policy council to advise the Government of Malaysia on macro-economic factors impacting the Real Estate Industry and its consequential impact to the country.

    2 Invited to join the faculty at the Real Estate Department, Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania as a Visiting Scholar in September 2007.

    3 Dr. Shun’s Doctoral dissertation secured the 7th placing in the prestigious European Doctoral Association for Management and Business Administration (EDAMBA) Thesis competition announced in July 2005. He secured the top ten position amongst the over 300 entries from the top 60 Business, Economics and Management Universities in Europe.

    4 He has participated in the Senior Management Development Programme (SMDP) conducted by the Harvard Business School in 1994.

    5 Dr Shun has published/ written the following academic papers/ articles:

    v “An Empirical Investigation of the Role of Legal Origin on the Performance of Real Estate Stocks within the Context of a Tactical Asset Allocation Strategy” was accorded the designation of “highly commended” in the UK based Keith Macmillan Research Manuscript prize. His area of research is in Property Risk Management, Portfolio Management and Property Finance.

    v Articles in the EDGE WEEKLY, a regional Malaysian and Singaporean financial weekly, with respect to Property Risk Management and Asian Property Trusts and he also regularly writes for the Journal of Malaysian Financial Planning.

    v Risk Management paper and methodology, used by the Euromoney Training UK (a division of Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC), United Kingdom for a 3-day seminar entitled “Modelling Techniques for Structuring Real Estate Finance” on 10th - 12th February 2003 in London.

    Dr Shun has also presented and give seminars/talks on the following:-

    v Featured by Bloomberg TV on such matters as Property Trusts, Property Risk and Property Finance.

    v Seminars entitled “Development Lifestyle Implications for the 21st Century: Seven key Reflections via a System Dynamics Feedback Loop Perspective” at the Multimedia University, Malaysia in 2004 and the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2006 as a blueprint for responsible and sustainable development in Emerging nations.

    v Conference speaker for the 2005 CFO Conference organised by the Federation of Public Listed Companies (FPLC) and the 2006 National Accountant’s Congress organised by the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

    v Dr. Shun presented his latest joint research with Prof. David Ho (NUS) on Value-at-Risk (VaR) for Real Estate and on Islamic Financing for Real Estate at the American Real Estate Society (ARES) Global Conference in San Francisco in 2007.

    v Dr. Shun and his NUS colleague, Associate Prof. David Ho have presented a model how to set up a USD$200m property investment fund to invest in 8 Asian cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Jakarta). Dated 30 Aug 2006

    v Distinguished Speaker for NUS Real Estate Department in September 2006 and August 2007 with the latest talk entitled: “Islamic Financing as a Strategic Financing Alternative for Developers; Case studies of Islamic Financing in a highly competitive Conventional Banking Environment”.

    Dr. Shun has been involved on a voluntary basis with the Foundation for Community Studies and Development (FOCUSED), a Non-Governmental Organisation, as the Honorary Finance Director.

    FOCUSED was established in 1993 and received its esteemed designation of “Foundation” in 1998 as recognition by the Malaysian Government for its invaluable support and expertise in improving the standard of living and poverty alleviation amongst the aboriginal indigenous peoples in Malaysia known as the “Orang Asli’s”.
